Proud to Be a LGBTQ Healthcare Equity Leader
We are proud to support and celebrate the LGBTQ community not just in June during Pride Month, but all year round. We are honored to have been named an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader by the Human Rights Campaign for LGBTQ Inclusive Healthcare. We are even more proud of our unwavering commitment to acceptance and diversity and knowing it's more than just promising unbiased care for all, but is about embracing differences, understanding, accepting and respecting them.
We know that there's still work to be done and we will continue to work on our policies, practices, education and training to improve our abilities to provide culturally competent and patient-centered care to our LGBTQ patients and their families.
Connecticut Hospital Association’s Diversity Collaborative
Bristol Hospital joined the Connecticut Hospital Association’s Diversity Collaborative in 2011. This statewide initiative is working together to identify improvement strategies and interventions to increase diversity in hospital governance, senior management and nursing to improve cultural competence in the delivery of care, and increase supplier diversity. In 2018, Bristol Hospital obtained leadership status in Healthcare Equality Index Promoting LGBTQ patient centered care. Bristol Hospital remains the only hospital in Bristol and is committed to differentiating and distinguishing itself from other regional hospitals through extraordinary service and excellence in quality outcomes, thereby supporting patient safety in health care.
#123forEquity Campaign
As a part of the American Hospital Association's Institute for Diversity and Health Equity #123forEquity Campaign to eliminate healthcare disparities, Bristol Health's annual corporate goals include diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, which has led to annual diversity competency training on topics such as unconscious bias, equity treatment, etc.

West Central Connecticut: We Support You!
Bristol Health, led by an employee initiative, has donated thousands of dollars to aid in the United Way of West Central Connecticut's truly important mission. Similar to Bristol Health, the United Way is dedicated to helping individuals and families who call our community home and advancing the common good by creating lasting changes to improve lives in our communities.

What Does Our Community Need?
Recently, we led a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment to evaluate the needs of all those living in and around Bristol. The purpose of the assessment was to gather information regarding not just health needs, but health behaviors as well. The assessment examined a variety of indicators, including alcohol and tobacco use, chronic health conditions like diabetes and heart disease and access to care.
