Advanced Outpatient Care

Not every illness or injury requires an overnight stay at the hospital. With the continued advancement and investment in technology at Bristol Health, our physicians and surgeons are able to perform a growing number of tests and procedures in an outpatient setting, saving you both time and money.

Outpatient vs. Inpatient Care

Inpatient care is when you are admitted to the hospital to be treated and observed for more than 24 hours. Outpatient care is just the opposite. Outpatient care is when you receive a service from a medical professional that doesn’t require admittance to the hospital. Outpatient includes such services as:

  • Wellness and prevention services such as counseling and primary care
  • Treatments, for example, specialty care, urgent care, chemotherapy and some surgical procedures
  • Diagnostic Imaging services including x-rays, MRI scans and mi-eye
  • Laboratory services include phlebotomy and comprehensive clinical testing of patient specimens
  • Rehabilitation like physical therapy and speech therapy

Why Outpatient Care?

There are several benefits to outpatient care, one of which is that the patient is allowed to recover from their visit in the place they are most comfortable—home. When treatment concludes, the patient is released by their provider to return home without having to spend the night in the hospital for further observation.

In addition, outpatient care almost always carries less of a cost on the patient as they do not require a stay in the hospital.

With continued medical advances the number of available outpatient procedures continues to grow.
