WIC

WIC is the supplemental food assistance program for Women, Infants and Children. Designed to promote health and prevent nutrition related health problems, WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding information and referrals to families who participate.

Who Are We?

WIC is the supplemental food assistance program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC is designed to promote health and prevent nutrition related health problems by providing nutrition education, breastfeeding information and referrals. Families who participate also receive an eWIC card that they can use to purchase healthy foods at the grocery store.

Who Is Eligible?

Connecticut families whose household income is below current limits, families that have a child under the age of five, women who are either pregnant or recently delivered and families who can demonstrate a nutrition-related risk or need. Those who apply will need to demonstrate eligibility by coming to the office to show documentation as well as meet with a nutritionist for assessment.

How Do I Apply?

If you are a new participant in the WIC program, please call one of our main offices listed below to schedule an appointment, or you may fill out the application through the link provided below and we will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Please note that if you are a current or previous participant in the WIC program, please call us to schedule an appointment. We are currently receiving a higher than normal call volume. If you do not reach a staff member, please leave us a clear message with your name & phone number so we can return your call as soon as possible. Thank you.

At your appointment, we'll need to confirm your eligibility for the program. Please be sure to bring the following with you: 

  • The person or children you want to enroll in WIC
  • ID of the authorized individual on the account (Guardian), and ID for each member of the family you want to enroll in WIC.
  • Proof of your household income (pay stubs, bank statements, W2, or letter from your employer. Eligibility for Husky A insurance or SNAP may also be used as proof of income.)
  • Proof of residency (Connecticut Issued ID, Utility Bill showing your address, any other official documentation showing that you live in Connecticut)
  • Medical forms. You may need to bring paperwork from your doctor or pediatrician with current blood work information, proof of pregnancy, weight and length measurements or a WIC prescription if a special formula or medical food is needed.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online HERE, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
