When Should I See a Physiatrist?

You should plan to see a physiatrist if:

  • You experienced an injury causing pain and/or pain impedes your daily life
  • You have limited physical function and pain after an illness or disability
  • You are experiencing chronic back pain, neck pain, pain from a repetitive stress injury or chronic pain from arthritis
  • You have had a stroke or other nerve damage, limiting your daily physical activity
  • You are recovering from surgery
  • You are contemplating surgery as a means to diminish chronic pain

Dr. Watson is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist and completed his residency training at Albany Medical Center. His goal is to help patients achieve maximum restoration of physical, psychological, social and vocational function through rehabilitation.
