At Bristol Health, our pulmonary rehabilitation team can help you achieve better lung function and health when facing chronic conditions.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Personalized Care and Support
Our pulmonary rehabilitation program is designed to fit your health, current level of fitness and needs. They include education, supervised exercise and support to help you reach the highest level of physical, social and emotional well-being possible for you. Our caring, multidisciplinary teams help you reduce risk factors for future health problems while guiding you back to a healthy lifestyle full of activities you love.
Conditions We Treat
Pulmonary rehabilitation is often used in people with chronic lung conditions to improve their quality of life and reduce risk for hospitalization, though it will not cure these conditions. Your doctor may recommend pulmonary rehabilitation if you have:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a chronic disease that can make it hard to breathe due to inflammation and other problems in the lungs.
- Emphysema, a type of COPD where parts of the lungs have been destroyed by the effects of tobacco smoke.
- Pulmonary fibrosis, a condition in which lung tissue is scarred or damaged and becomes stiff.
- Cystic fibrosis, a genetic condition where the lungs are often inflamed, narrowed and full of mucus.
- Asthma, a type of COPD where airways become swollen and narrowed or blocked with mucus.
- Neuromuscular diseases, such as muscular dystrophy, that affect your ability to use your lung muscles and breathe deeply.
- Surgery for lung cancer to remove parts of the lung.
- A lung transplant.
Our Approach to Your Care
Our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs use a comprehensive approach to helping you return to activities you love and experience better health.
At Bristol Health, we have designed each component of our rehabilitation programs to help you achieve a better quality of life, reduce risk factors and improve symptom control. Each program is divided into three phases that will help you safely improve your heart and lung function.
