Diagnostic Sleep Study

The Bristol Hospital Sleep Center allows for more personal attention and a focus on a comfortable and restful environment for you. Our private rooms are designed to be quiet and relaxing, making them ideal for assessment and treatment. Our in-hospital sleep study involves an overnight stay at the Center.

Home Sleep Study

A home sleep test is an easy, convenient and cost-effective way to detect if you may potentially have a sleep disorder such as sleep apnea. Home sleep tests monitor your breathing and oxygen levels while you sleep. Most home sleep tests are completed in just one night.

We offer two types of home sleep studies. Our care team will help determine which home study is right for you.

Watermark Home Sleep Testing (in office pick-up)

Our care team will supply you with the Watermark test equipment and give an overview on how to use it before sending you home.

How to Prepare

The day of your at home sleep test you should:

  • Follow your normal daily routine as much as possible
  • Try to avoid napping
  • Avoid caffeine  

What to Expect with Watermark

You will be provided with detailed instructions, and a video, on how to use the device when you pick it up from the sleep medicine office. We encourage you to ask any questions before heading home. For your convenience, please see the how-to video.

Go to bed at your regular time, attaching the sensors to you as instructed. When you wake in the morning, you can remove the sensors and return the device back to your provider. The sleep team will review the information collected and will contact you with the results and to go over next steps.

WatchPAT® Home Sleep Testing (mailer test)

The WatchPAT home sleep study device is an easy to use, accurate and reliable home sleep apnea test. Our care team will schedule your test and get it mailed out to you.

How to Prepare

The day of your at home sleep test you should:

  • Follow your normal daily routine as much as possible
  • Try to avoid napping
  • Avoid caffeine  

What to Expect with WatchPAT

Your device will be mailed to you with detailed instructions, and a video, on how to use the device.

Go to bed at your regular time. Have your WatchPAT device, charged cell phone and WiFi ready for bedtime. Follow the WatchPAT instructional video for sensor placement and to get started. Keep your cell phone close to you while you sleep. When you wake, stop recording on your phone, remove the device from yourself and dispose of it. The sleep team will review the information collected and contact the ordering provider with the results and information on next steps.

Inspire® Therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

We’re proud to offer Inspire therapy. Inspire therapy is a mask–free solution for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who have tried and struggled with CPAP. Through a simple–to–use system including the Inspire implant, remote and app, Inspire therapy enables you to control your OSA treatment from the palm of your hand.

  • Over the age of 18
  • Diagnosed with moderate to severe OSA
  • Unable to use or get consistent benefit from CPAP
  • Meet the weight recommendations/guidelines
