Travel Medicine

Travel medicine is a medical specialty that focuses on the health and safety of travelers by preventing, diagnosing and managing travel-related health issues.

Travel Medicine Specialists

Travel medicine professionals are experts in travel-related illnesses, global epidemiology, health regulations and changing patterns of drug-resistant infections.

Based on a traveler's trip itinerary and health history, our doctors can determine what preventive measures and care you need. This may include vaccines given in advance of a trip and medicines to bring along in case of illness. We can assist with:

  • Consultation on travel plans from a health perspective
  • Assessment of required and recommended medications and vaccines
  • Immunizations (Hepatitis A, Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Polio, etc.)
  • Medications

Preparing for Your Appointment

Schedule your appointment at least four weeks in advance of your trip to make sure you have enough time to get any necessary vaccinations. Bring your detailed travel agenda with you and a copy of your immunizations record. Prepare to talk about any of your chronic conditions that may be impacted by your travel such as jet lag, climate, food and water.

What to Expect

Plan on appointments lasting 30 to 60 minutes for the medical travel consultation and for any vaccine administration.
